Freezin For A Reason- A Pink Carpet Gala - a sparkling fundraiser for cancer
It was back in 2002 that St. Germain’s local ATV club held the first Radar Run on Little St. Germain Lake. The event has evolved into a huge two-day event, featuring dozens of fun activities in addition to the amateur and pro races.
Perhaps the most popular event, in addition to the racing, is the Bikini Radar Run. The race features more than two dozen bikini-clad beauties who hop on their sleds, grab their throttles and race down a meticulously groomed snow speedway.
They do this not just for the trophies and the glory. No, the Pink Ribbon Riders, an organization devoted to helping those afflicted with breast cancer, has been a beneficiary along with the St. Germain Fire Department and the Plum Lake Ambulance Service. These three groups have shared in the $300,000 raised by these great gals while thrilling thousands of spectators.
In addition to this dynamic fundraiser, event organizer, Amy Greenberg came up with an additional extravaganza to beef up the Pink Ribbon Riders coffers.
This is the fifth year for the Freezing for a Reason – A Pink Carpet Gala, held January 19 at the Whitetail Inn from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
“There are between 150 to 180 people who attend the Pink Carpet Gala,” said Amy. “All proceeds that go to the Pink Ribbon Riders stay in Wisconsin. This doesn’t go to research. A $500 gift card is given to those men and women who have breast cancer.
“We have such great support from this wonderful community.”
This is a rare opportunity to don your fanciest duds and spend an evening enjoying cocktails, hors-d’oeuvres, and music while raising money for the Pink Ribbon Riders.
Take time to peruse the fabulous items offered in the silent auction. There are several items donated by the Packers including an autographed football from Clay Matthews. There is a gun raffle, a crossbow raffle, a putting contest, plus many, many more top-notch prizes.
In addition to the auction, there are fabulous raffle prizes donated by local businesses and individuals. As if this wasn’t enough, there are also door prizes.
What better way to enjoy a grand evening while raising money for an excellent cause! Advance tickets are $25 and may be purchased at Knocker’s Pizza Company, Inc., Timber’s Bar & Grill, the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce (Temporarily located at 416 Hwy. 70), Blend Coffee, Eagle River, and the Whitetail Inn. You can also email Amy Greenberg at amyjo05@gmail.com. Tickets at the door are $30.
Dust off your best sparkly evening-wear and grab that suit from the back of your closet. It’s your night to shine and make a difference in a neighbor’s life. To learn more about what is going to happen, visit the Freezin For A Reason – A Pink Carpet Gala visit their website.
